The squad consists of 14 girls who were selected on the back of impressive trials for the club.
The team was selected more than eight months in advance of the actual competition, association president Kelly Lolesio said, to give the girls time to train and gel as a squad.
“They go into pre-season training now, so a lot of what they’ll do now before Christmas will be fitness-type training,” Lolesio said.
The team will then have a brief break over Christmas, before returning to the training regime in late January.
Featured among the names on the team list are many of the same players who represented the city in the 2018 edition, however there has been an injection of youth which Lolesio believes will reinvigorate the Queanbeyan side.
“There’s a mixture of good, experienced players in there with some younger ones coming through as well,” she said.
“With the new ones coming through, it’s giving them experience to play with the senior players as well.”
This mixture, in Lolesio’s opinion, certainly has what it takes to claim victory at the State Championships.
“Last year they were extremely competitive, and only lost by the smallest of margins,” she said.
“This year, they’ve already come back a whole lot fitter and stronger … I think they will be quite strong this year.
“They really are coming back and are really going to fight to go to the next step this year.”
Along with the Opens list, the club also announced the lineup for the Under 17’s side, and for the junior sides which will compete in the State Age Championships for 2019.
Five teams from the Under 11’s to the Under 15’s have been named, all of whom will take part in the competition. The 2019 State Age Championships will be hosted by the Baulkham Hills Shire Netball Association for Divisions One and Two, and the Penrith District Netball Association for Divisions Three and Four.
State Age will be held from July 6 to July 8, 2019.
