The ACT side, also known as the Brumbies Runners, will field players who were not fortunate enough to be selected for the Brumbies’ match against the Chiefs the following night at Canberra Stadium.
During the first round of the Super Rugby, Brumbies stars David Pocock, Toni Pulu, and Henry Speight were all injured, which means that the Runners side will change accordingly as players are called up to cover the trio.
With this in mind, the Brumbies will release the Runners’ team list late in the week.
As it stands, the Brumbies currently have three more matches scheduled for the Runners, including fixtures against the Rebels in Albury on March 9, the Waratahs at Canberra Stadium on March 15, and the Sunwolves at a location yet to be confirmed on May 12.
The Brumbies went into the season with confidence, following wins in both preseason games against the Waratahs and the Rebels. However their Super Rugby campaign got off to a less glamorous start with a close seven point loss to the Rebels in Friday’s round one match.
The Brumbies will have their work cut out for them to avenge last Friday’s loss this weekend against the Chiefs.
The match will take place at Campese Field from 5.30pm, and entry is free for fans who wish to attend.
The Queanbeyan Whites will have bar and canteen facilities available for spectators at the match.
