Fishing | Pick the coast over the local scene

Lake Ginninderra was probably the most consistent with fish relatively easy to find on the sounder.

I hit the water with my better half and located some huge schools of reddies, with some natives following close by.

Couldn't get a native but reddies responded well to purple tn50 and metallic rippin' rats.

Googong is still a must-do as many fat goldens have been caught walking the banks this week, not to mention the boat getting among it also.

On the coast, snapper fishing off Jervis Bay and Ulladulla has been superb.

Lightly weighted squid or yakka baits down a burley trail has been irresistible.

There has also been good numbers of mowong around that are loving this bait approach.

Micro jigging has been a little hard, more bakers than snapper, but brown, white and silver plastics have been the colours that have been most active and landing decent pinkies.  

Burrill Lake has been one of the best estuary systems on the south coast and is fast becoming a surface lure Mecca; the last few weeks it's really shown how underrated this system is, producing some large lizards, bream and plump whiting.

Finally, some news of marlin off Bermagui and Batemans Bay!

Hopefully the slow run is over and we can start to see some better game catches closer to home.

It seems that little rush of kings last week has pretty much disappeared in a blink of an eye.
