Hello, my name is Mercedes! I came into the RSPCA via the inspector, so I needed lots of time to socialise with people and learn that they aren't as scary as I once thought. I am still quite shy, you can usually find me having a nap under a scratching post or in my bed. I have slowly begun to approach people (especially for yummy treats) and enjoy chin scratches. My beautiful coat will need regular grooming, but starting slow and working up to this would suit me best. My new family will have to be very specific, and chosen by staff to reflect my personality. I need to be given lots of time to settle into my new home, and it is likely that I may need weeks and weeks to become comfortable there. I am currently living with other cats, and would love to be adopted with one of my friends (although this is not a requirement) but could live with an existing cat-friendly feline given proper introductions. My ideal home is with adults only (no children), someone with cat experience (preferably who has had a timid cat in the past) and that has no expectations of me as (in most cases) these are unrealistic.
