At the Cookbundoon soccer fields, the weather held up beautifully and conditions were perfect for two hard-fought matches.
Unfortunately for the QCFC, both grades fell to resounding defeats against Southern TablelandsFootball Association sides which came into their matches red-hot and ready to fire.
The first match played was between the two Under 20s sides. Although well-contested, honours ultimately went to the STFA, who claimed a 3-0 win for their efforts.
The Under 20s clash, which began at 1.00pm, was followed by the senior men's at 3.00pm.
This was a more tightly contested match, but one which was eventually decided by a margin of two goals, 4-2, also in favour of the home side.
It is still early in the season, so both teams have ample time to rebound from their unfortunate starts.
This weekend, both sides will take on Weston Molonglo at Riverside Stadium. Once again, the Under 20s will start at 1.00pm and the seniors at 3.00pm.
The Weston Molonglo sides had a similarly mixed beginning to their seasons, with the seniors claiming a 4-0 win over the Brindabella Blues on Saturday while the Under 20s fell to a 2-3 defeat against the same opposition.
The QCFC will be looking to repeat its Minor Premiership from last season. At the same time, they will look to improve on the preliminary final finish which saw the side knocked out by ANU FC, who would go on to win the grand final in a landslide 6-1 victory over White Eagles FC.
