Comments included:
Climate Change
Many showed great understanding, others were not so informed.
Said should be talked more about in schools.
They also said the government is not doing enough and 'should put solar above coal'.
Employment
Wanted more help with writing resumes, interview skills budgeting, career advice.
Environment and Water
The blue green algal outbreak at Lake Tuggeranong was the biggest issue, with comments that they felt 'in its current state it negatively affected their health and wellbeing'.
Health and Wellbeing
Wanted more support for young people.
Youth Spaces in Tuggeranong
Wanted a dedicated Youth Centre in Tuggeranong Town Centre.
Safety
Concerned about some places where bad behaviour occurred.
Transport
Felt buses too slow, too infrequent and sometimes unsafe; wanted mobile phone app, more dedicated school buses, more rapids.
Future Directions
Wanted their ideas put into actions, proof that their voices have been heard, want to be involved in future consultations.
Supporters
The forum was supported by the Tuggeranong Community Council, YWCA, Communities@Work, and CIT Tuggeranong.
Next TCC meeting
The next meeting of the Tuggeranong Community Council will be held at 7.30pm on May 7 at the Vikings Town Centre Club, corner Athlon Drive and Rowland Crescent, Greenway. We will have a report on the results of the research being done on Lake Tuggeranong. We will then have a short Candidates Forum for the candidates for the new federal electorate of Bean.
