Well, I have some news for you... our own backyard is the place to wet a line.
Googong has been extremely productive.
Working the outer edges of the weed bed - both with lures and bobbing with yabbies - has yet again produced some donkey-sized goldens.
Even slow trolling the outer edges has landed some great fish.
Casting from the bank with silent TNs, ZX blades and beetle spins rigged with your favourite soft plastic has also worked well.
Look for gaps in the weed and use a slow, steady retrieve.
Lake Burley Griffin is alive!
The days are still warm, which is firing up goldens.
Jason Newman has had some great success as of late, experimenting with microjigs in the main basin, and so far his method has been dynamite.
His last session paid dividends of a couple of nice fish just shy of 60cm.
Vertical jigging is not only one of the best fishing methods in the salt, but is fast becoming a go-to for many anglers in the fresh, thanks to anglers like Jason.
The mouth of the Molonglo River has also been very fruitful, with bait anglers catching plenty of fish on worms and yabbies.
After recent rain in the region, now is the time to hit little creeks and rivers.
Redfin and trout really come alive with the increased flow; I'll be out very shortly testing some new inline spinners from Lastcast.
