Zero to 100 fitness
Axis Youth Centre has started the Zero to 100 fitness program at Braidwood Central School and the two high schools in Queanbeyan. In the early hours of the morning before school, the youth centre staff run a circuit training session followed by breakfast to help set the students up and prepare them physically and mentally. The program got off to a great start, with lots of students and even a few teachers.
Parks and Leisure Conference
We are proud to be hosting the Parks and Leisure Australia NSW/ACT 2019 Conference in Queanbeyan at The Q and Bicentennial Hall this week. We look forward to showcasing our region to all the park managers and parks and leisure professionals as a great place to visit and learn from.
As part of the conference, attendees will be visiting parks and recreation spaces in the ACT, along with our award-winning Queen Elizabeth II Park and the parks and recreation spaces in Googong.
Government House grounds collaboration
We have started a trial collaboration with the Governor General's House, which will see a number of our staff working as part of the Governor General's Property Team. Our employees will be exposed to the general upkeep and presentation of the Governor General's grounds as well as the preparation and planning for major events that are frequently hosted by the Governor General.
This is a real endorsement and testament of the high regard in which our parks and garden staff are held and a platform for them to learn new skills that can be brought back to council.
