Silver Hills Bridge replacement: We are replacing the Silver Hills Bridge on Captains Flat road with funding under the Australian Government's Bridges Renewal Program. The wooden bridge will be replaced with a concrete reinforced box culvert structure. The first stage will involve the construction of a temporary diversion around the site. The whole project is expected to be complete towards the end of the year, with approximately four weeks under traffic control towards the end of this period. Drivers should drive to the conditions, obey any reduced speed limits and take care for the safety of workers and fellow drivers.

Bungendore Structure Plan: On Tuesday, August 13, we are holding a drop-in information session about the Bungendore Structure Plan. Community members can come along at any time between 6.30-8.30pm to have small group or one-on-one conversations with council staff. It will be held in the foyer of the Bungendore office at 10 Majara Street. There will be display information placed around the room, including maps and key information. You are able to ask questions about matters you are interested in. The deadline for submissions about the Structure Plan is extended to August 30, to allow more time to make informed comments. Go to yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au to view the plan and make a comment.
Award winning Music by the River: We are very pleased to have been recognised in the RH Dougherty Awards during Local Government Week, presented by Local Government NSW. We came away as a joint winner in the category of Innovation in Special Events for Music by the River. This event is proudly run in partnership with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra and Icon Water and showcases our beautiful Queanbeyan River and the Queen Elizabeth II Park. The judges commented that it was "culture done well ... and a wonderfully successful event that activated the new parkland area." The CSO played to crowds of over 2,000 people and the event increased visitation to the Queanbeyan region, provided business opportunities for local producers and allowed an opportunity for more of the community to experience arts and culture in an inexpensive way.
August in Queanbeyan-Palerang: Council's Visit Queanbeyan-Palerang team put together a list of what is happening in the region every month. The August edition is now available from visitqueanbeyanpalerang.com.au. From music to art, truffles to wine, theatre to markets, there is something for everyone.
