The Hurricanes collected a nine-run win over the Melbourne Renegades at Blacktown, after the Renegades finished at 5-134 chasing Hobart's 7-143.
Tasmanian Courtney Webb was almost the villain in the piece for the Hurricanes with a quickfire 32 from 25 balls for the Renegades, but her dismissal ended the contest.
Belinda Vakarewa claimed her wicket and an almost trademark opening over wicket [of Carly Leeson] to have the Renegades on the back foot from the start.
Hayley Matthews was outstanding with the ball with 2-19 from her four overs of off-spin in a great all-round performance after making 20 from 25 with the bat.
Nicola Carey [1-24 from four overs] was the Hurricanes' other wicket-taker.
Earlier, Rachel Priest and Naomi Stalenberg got Hobart off to a flying start with a 41-run opening stand in 4.1 overs, before Stalenberg [15 from 12] departed and momentum was further lost when Erica Kershaw could manage just six from 11 balls after being promoted to number three.
Priest top-scored with 42 from 37, with Chloe Tryon powerful with 36 from 23 to joining Matthews as a key contributor, with Sasha Moloney's unbeaten 10 from six vital as wickets fell late.
