Greg Domaszewicz was due to face Melbourne Magistrates Court on an assault charge on Friday afternoon, but failed to show.
Prosecutors asked that a warrant be issued for the arrest of the 52-year-old, who also goes by the name Greg Becker.
According to court document's it's alleged he assaulted an unnamed person with a weapon at Newport in November 2019.
It's also alleged that he was in possession of a makeshift spear at Lofts Reserve in Newport on the same day.
Domaszewicz said he left 14-month-old Jaidyn alone and sleeping in Moe in June 1997 while he went to pick up the boy's mother, his then-girlfriend, Bilynda Williams in nearby Traralgon.
He said when he returned the boy was gone, his windows were smashed and there was a bloodied pig's head on the front lawn.
Jaidyn's body was found in Blue Rock Dam on New Year's Day 1998.
Domaszewicz was found not guilty of Jaidyn's murder by a jury later that year.
A 2005 inquest found Domaszewicz had contributed to the toddler's death, by failing to adequately look after Jaidyn while he was in his care.
