COVID-19 case numbers appear to be stabilising in the Southern NSW Local Health District.

The vast region, covering seven council areas, has recorded four successive days of case numbers in the 300 range.

This continued in the 24 hours to 8pm Sunday with 300 positive results. This included 189 detected through PCR tests and 111 via rapid antigen tests.
It followed a peak of 669 on January 19 and 582 on January 20. However these higher numbers could also have been a 'catch-up' on rapid antigen figures, reporting of which only recently became mandatory.

A Health District spokeswoman said that of the 189 cases confirmed by PCR tests, 32 were in Goulburn Mulwaree, two in Upper Lachlan, six were in Yass Valley, 78 in Queanbeyan Palerang, 19 were in the Snowy Monaro, 28 in Bega Valley and 21 in Eurobodalla.
The area has 3532 active cases, with 21 of these in hospital and 44 under virtual care programs.
The spokeswoman said nine COVID-19 patients were in Goulburn Base Hospital, with none in ICU. Bega's South East Regional Hospital has one person in ICU and nine in its COVID ward.
The Health District has recorded 10 deaths due to the virus since June, 2021.
Each local government area has more than 95 per cent of its eligible population fully vaccinated, according to NSW Health.
